Before settling in to write, my dirty kitchen calls, and it’s less than six feet from my desk.
I want to put on some energizing music for the task, but I hit barrier after barrier to play a CD in my computer or to open iTunes. It’s maddening, and I find myself beginning to get riled up. What’s with my computer?! Why can’t I do this today?!
After a big exhalation, I decide to abandon it for awhile, approaching the messy kitchen.
Glancing out the window by the sink, I see the largest, most beautiful Blue Jay eating seed I’d set out a couple hours earlier. At the moment, I realize the chance to see his beauty offers music enough for washing all my dishes.
Joy returns to my heart. Plus gratitude enters for the decaying stump out my kitchen window, giving me a focal point to witness nature dressed in beauty, innocence, and peace.
