My phone rings at 11:26 a.m.
Where are you? says the caller to pajama-clad me typing away, getting ready for tomorrow’s speaking engagement.
Wow! My brain swiftly organizes from chaos to realize this is the person who invited me to give a talk in front of a group of women tomorrow. And she’s on the phone saying the program is today. And it has begun. And they’re wondering why I’m not present.
Somehow I manage to ask her the latest time I can arrive to share how I started my business, and she says 12:15 p.m.
I’ll do my best, I say, as I enter that focused world of present moment awareness to swiftly dress, pack Joy on Your Shoulders ™ products and business cards, and head out the door, knowing the journey before me is probably 45 minutes on a good day.
I find myself catching every red light in town. Argh! I breathe, call to cancel a 12:30 appointment, and place a second call to a friend to rant.
After a minute of runaway emotions, I say, I’m sorry. Please send good energy for me to get green lights the rest of the way.
Amazingly, green lights do start to appear, my blood pressure settles, and I find the restaurant with five minutes to spare.
Entering the room, I hear the announcer use her puppet to announce my arrival, and after a few minutes of displaying my wares on an empty table, I’m called to the front to speak.
With ease, humor, and passion, I share a bit of my story–the gift of healing into my given name of Joy.
What a journey we’re all on.
What healing have you been brought through as you grow into an improved version of yourself? What new layer calls you to pay attention to it? Can you bring tenderness to an aspect of you that needs honoring? Can you love a part of yourself you’ve dismissed?
Love, forgiveness, release, allow. Kindness, patience, sweetness, joy.
