In the vegetable and flower garden my partner Ben tends, Cosmos taller than I dance in the wind and rain…beautiful sentinels.
Fragile, radiant, sweetly pink or white.
Conversely, a flower bed in front of our home features Cosmos without flowers, looking rather Charlie Brownish.
We check them often for signs of flowering.
Not yet.
Both started as sister Cosmos seeds with the potential to shine their radiance this August. Both held the promise of being bright and beautiful.
What’s the difference?
The angle of sunlight, the ph of soil, the way water runs past or settles on the roots?
Or are the ones without flowers simply taking a little longer to burst into bloom?
I see a metaphor here. Do you?
Do you feel you’re Cosmos alive with blooms and joy, spinning through life with a smile in your heart? Do you shine wherever you go?
Woo hoo! I hope you take time to celebrate yourself. Congratulations!
Or do you see yourself more like Cosmos without ? A person burdened with worry, self-doubt, or regrets…too heavy to bloom?
Compassion to dear you. My heart sends love, my friend.
Thirdly, do you see yourself on a healing path? Are you simply blooming in your own, sweet time? Following your unique soul’s rhythms?
Ah hah…a work in progress! Aren’t we all?
I’ve been all of these renditions, and maybe you have, too.
Life is a journey, after all, and we have lots to learn and unlearn along the way.
We receive bushels of instruction when we’re young.
We may have been asked to be very quiet, or to stop moving so darn much.
We may have learned to keep our thoughts to ourselves.
Shining our lights may have been highly discouraged.
Yes.
Life has a way of pruning us into particular shapes to meet others’ expectations.
But it’s not all a sad tale.
It’s our personal Odyssey to find a way to heal all those expectations.
We get to evolve from all the drama and trauma of our lives, take off and shake off old tapes running in our minds, and learn to deeply love all the imperfectly perfect parts of ourselves.
Once we can do that, we’re ready to bloom, bloom, bloom.
Are you ready for an experienced guide to companion you into blooming?
