I love this tree that’s taken such an interesting shape!
I wonder how it happened.
It appears to be stripped down to its barest needs, radiating now as a sentinel of individuality.
A sentinel of individuality.
I’m pretty sure that’s how we are designed.
Like snowflakes.
And flowers.
Sentinels of individuality!
The key question is, however, are we being our unique selves?
Or are we covered over by longings, expectations, wounds, worries….all the things blocking us from radiating the sweet gems we are?
A way to begin is to examine in a conscious way who we have become.
Write down all the trappings of your inner and outer worlds.
Yes, make a list now.
That way you’ll be able to see what shape your life has taken.
You can return after you’ve written down what’s happening in your life.
Is there a lot on that list?
Do you believe less is more?
Do you know the lightness of owning fewer books? Fewer DVDs?
Do you know the delight of seeing into a refrigerator when you know what you have?
Fewer paper piles. Limited television. Heading to meetings that matter.
I believe streamlining ourselves operates on many levels.
There’s the outer layer of our belongings. There’s the amount of media we engage in. There’s the amount of responsibilities we accept. There are the years of baggage we may not have unpacked.
Are we carrying too much?
Just enough?
For me, less truly is more.
I find more joy owning fewer items to manage, and I delight in not being addicted to watch certain television shows.
I actually haven’t owned a television for a few years. I catch a show here and there on my laptop.
In open time owning fewer items and not watching tv, after engaging in a healing path for many years, I’ve been able to deepen into my own being.
This takes the unique shape of doing the body work I do, massages and Pilates these days, and exercising the way I do, hiking and hula hooping in my living room.
I spend morning time entering my unique spiritual practice: writing in a gratitude journal before thanking Spirit for THIS DAY to inspire all the joy I can.
Then I read and underline in three daily devotionals that speak to my soul, breathing in the wisdom of teachers who’ve gone before me.
Next I close my eyes, breathing in light and love to share.
If you’d like support streamlining into yourself, I’d be honored to walk by your side.
