My partner Ben nurtures the soil of his vegetable garden with free manure available at a nearby forest.
His love for gardening lives inside his ancestry, his genes, and his heart, making these sunny days of early spring a gift to Ben’s soul.
He’s seriously in heaven fiddling around outside this time of year, picking rocks from the garden, setting seedlings into a sunny spot on our screened-in porch, and doing a dozen more tasks I don’t see.
Before long, our summer plates overflow with the bounty of his efforts grooming soil and seeds.
Sweet!
How about the healthy and toxic ways we can nurture the soil of our souls?
Do you know someone who’s all about complaining or anger?
Bless them.
Bless us.
They are where they are on their journey, and we’re all connected, aren’t we?
I suspect you’re in a different spot.
You’re awakening to the idea of nurturing the soil of your soul.
Do you begin your day with a spiritual practice?
Do you strive for good exercise and rest to rise with optimism each new day?
Do you limit time with folks who emit toxic vibes?
Do you limit time frittered away in front of television shows that offer little substance?
Do you seek solitude?
Massage the soil of your soul by listening to healing music, reveling in silence, or by spending time with a heart-centered friend.
Take a bath. Get a massage. Read poetry.
Like Ben enriching the soil of our garden with manure, make your soul a priority, enriching it in all the ways you can.
You’ll benefit.
The world will benefit.
Peace will increase.
Amen.
