This morning, I move plants multiple times to catch sunny spots through the windows.
I muse about the last weeks of Dad’s life when he asked to move near me.
And once he was here, it wasn’t working.
So he asked me to move him back to his Charlotte house.
Oh, my.
So much in me was tired from the spur-of-the-moment journey moving Dad to my town, and the day-to-day complaints he vented at me when this wasn’t a good fit for him.
Yet, yes, I wanted to honor his request to move him back home, in concert with that part of me ready for him to leave my town.
Like these plants I move today more than once that deserve all the light I can place them in.
Dad deserved to choose and to choose again, that which he believed would add light into his life.
We all deserve this.
A client I served the other day isn’t so happy in her abode.
Feeling challenged when her neighbor’s scents find their way into her home, she has a thread of belief that there’s something better out there for her, though she feels rather settled in and not ready to move.
I shared with her the larger belief I have that a wonderful new home is ready for her to move in, one where she won’t feel hampered by her neighbor’s lifestyle, one where she can breathe easier, one more filled with light.
When her belief grows, she’ll be ready to find a better spot, or not, but she can decide, move, and re-decide.
We all can.
Life is change, learning, growing, re-deciding.
May we live into all the ways we can, honoring ourselves and one another when we seek what matters to us, like plants seeking sun.
