Visiting with a long-time friend, we name truths with ease.
And as each one airs, as always, the solar chime in our living room sings out with confirmation from Spirit, Yes…truth has been spoken.
It’s uncanny and always right on; when truth is shared, the chimes ring.
Some of the truths we land on…
Our original natures are pure joy.
Our families and cultures, most of them highly dysfunctional, layer onto us opinions, beliefs, criticisms, expectations, addictions…
Our deepest journey is to shed all that our families and cultures have placed on us, so we can shine brightly as our original natures.
We each need to find our own path to return home inside, reuniting with our higher selves, bringing us the sense of belonging we’ve longed to hold.
Living in our heads isn’t where life is.
Living in the moment is where life is.
To live in the moment, we need to heal voices inside or make a truce with our inner critics, or forgive ourselves, or all of the above.
When we’re not ruminating about issues or planning how to talk to another, we can be present each moment clearly seeing and feeling what is happening, responding with acceptance and love.
That reminds me of the first time I noticed a difference in how I responded — I noticed that when my partner Ben and I met his family at a restaurant, there was no voice in my head telling me how I was going to be. I simply listened, spoke, and enjoyed each moment engaging with members of his family.
The visit was fun and interesting…hooray.
In the car on the way home, I remember smiling as I reviewed this new way of being with others …..simply present to being with them with no voices yammering inside my head.
Woo hoo!
Reflecting, I could sense how that new quietness had evolved.
I’d been able to nurture it along by becoming friends with my inner critics, practicing mindfulness, and living into more moments of trust…allowing life to unfold, without needing to manage it or know where life was going.
Giving up control.
Allowing.
Surrendering to moments.
Doing less.
Being more.
Allowing space and time to allow what’s calling inside to arise.
When we belong to ourselves, we’re less likely to run here and there seeking knowledge, for all the wisdom we need is within.
We become our own inner authority.
Our creative efforts shift every time we evolve inside.
May you live into a quieter mind and more richness in your life, dear reader.
