When I look out to witness amazing moments like this one, I’m struck by awe, grabbing my camera to catch the scene.
Oh, my.
Compared to where I lived before, tucked down a hill below the road, hidden by a large holly tree, I’m living in a spot which allows me to see so much when I pay attention.
Living here with Ben, I’ve grown so much in my ability to appreciate the continual gifts nature offers, gifts we’re One with, if we believe in the Oneness of life.
Working on the sun-soaked hillside in back on his day off yesterday, Ben found himself in the middle of starling country, where the gathering and chorus grew larger and louder by the moment.
When I glanced up from lunch, Ben had stopped gardening to receive the avian gifts nearby. He looked up and out at the large flock in trees all around, and he looked overhead as starlings flew past. I could feel his delight, for I’ve done that very thing – sitting out back in the thick of a starling show. We’ve had so many this winter; we appreciate each flock gallivanting near, opening the gift.
Then there’s the moon, the sun, clouds, rain, butterflies, birds bathing, skittering squirrels, crocus shining…
Nature.
Nature nearby.

I remember snowfall after snowfall, and gray day after gray day, when I longed to see a sliver of sunshine.

This milder state (North Carolina) I live in has awakened me to the blessings of nature in new ways.
Ben’s growing seedlings we move to sun spots in our house, as he dreams of hours in the garden, harvesting vegetables, watching Cosmos dance in the breeze.
Spring and summer will be here soon…hooray!
