When I return from my Mother’s Day walk, Ben asks about it.
I pet a small frog in the road…inhaled the scent of lilacs…paused near huge Rhododendrons, adding beauty to my heart…I love them…can we plant a Rhododendron here?
What strikes me as I reflect a few days later is that I was present to the glory of the natural world on Sunday’s walk.
I engaged with the listless frog, noticed lilacs on the breeze, and felt the beauty of the Rhododendrons.
I wasn’t in my head about an issue, or planning my day.
I wasn’t regretting something I said or did, replaying a story.
There are so many places I wasn’t.
Instead, I was present within and without Sunday morning, taking a sweet walk.
Admittedly, this has been a long journey, to heal so much within, and to quiet my mind, allowing me to receive the gifts of spring’s glory.
Hallelujah!
Dear reader, what does this bring up in you?
Can you take a walk to receive all the gifts of nature, too?
Are you challenged to walk with an empty mind and an open heart?
May you journey into more peace.
