Does the word experiment take you back to Science class?
I understand.
Me, too.
Besides science experiments, I now see the word in new ways, as in experimenting with the ways we embrace or shrink back from our lives.
For many years, I didn’t test the waters of experimentation much at all. I was rather stuck in a few ruts, reading old newspapers and magazines, and not taking much initiative. That version of me carried wounds and low self-esteem which made it challenging to step forward.
Either you resemble that earlier version of me, or you experiment in life; wherever you find yourself, may this essay offer a tender seed to water.
My run with experimentation begins in earnest a few years ago when I ask a friend whether or not I should attend a gathering for entrepreneurs.
New in business, I wonder if I qualify, and my friend says, “And why wouldn’t you go?”
She knows I’m a fan of the presenter (Christine Kane of UpLevel You), the program is being held nearby, and I have the means.
Indeed, why wouldn’t I go?
So, I step forward, inviting my friend to join me for a fabulous time at our first event of that nature.
Plus, an attendee I talk with one evening is so excited about my radiant creations, aka stoles with positive words on them, that she tells a store manager down the hall she needs to carry them.
The manager says Yes, giving me my first wholesale order!
That fall, I say Yes much more than ever, as I realize that each new place I go offers gifts on the journey. I meet folks who buy my wares, I network, or I learn to cross a group or event off my list for some reason.
Experimenting begins to feel like following the energy…living into new aspects of myself…engaging more deeply with life.
Experimenting opens us to new opportunities, new relationships, and new experiences.
Experimenting rocks!
May you add experimentation to your life, expanding your joy!
