A few months before Michael and I began creating table tents with affirmations for wait staff, cashiers and others, the idea had arisen to share uplifting words in the world.
At first, we believed that we’d use envelopes that came in the mail from bills we paid by phone.
But when the time came to sit down to create them, I felt called to use better materials…watercolors on white paper with heft, for starters.
Voila!
Every few weekends, I paint pieces of paper, Michael cuts them and we write in colored pencil phrases like, Thank you! (some with a smiley face), You‘re Awesome!, You Rock! and others, tucking them into our wallets.
When we’re out and about, we leave a card with payment at restaurants, in restrooms or give one to cashiers.
It’s one, small way that we’re extending kindness and love to add light where we wander.
How does this land inside you?
Does it cause you to consider the ways you add light and love?
Does it give a boost to an idea that’s been percolating inside you?
Can you lean into a version of spreading goodness?
Would you like to make similar cards to ours?
Can you share this post with others?
Thank you for being you and for the difference you’re making to create a more gentle, kind and lovely world.
