More Together Than Alone

Mark Nepo’s book, More Together Than Alone, is amazing to me.  This book is heart-wrenching, tear-producing and heart-opening, all at the same time.

The language is as beautiful as Mark always writes, while the subject can be intensely brutal, chaotic and painful to look at.

And yet…I am SO VERY GRATEFUL.

I am grateful that my heart is open-enough to receive more of the darkness that lives in our world.

Never before have I read a book with more despair, depth or heart, while offering hopefulness, spirit and meaning.

More Together Than Alone introduces us to cultures, customs and traditions that we may not have known about, giving us new understandings about community, cooperation and the ways people uplift one another.

This book feels hugely IMPORTANT today.

I cannot recommend More Together Than Alone by Mark Nepo enough.

Please, please…give yourself the gift of reading this book with another, discussing its downtrodden and wounds, its lessons and light.

Morning and night, I read on the phone to my partner Michael, which means that I’ve had the honor and uncomfortable path of reading this rich, raw book out loud for months.

This book is changing me in subtle, rich ways.

I am deepening.

I am becoming more compassionate.

I am more aware of the pain and ugliness that humanity has done to one another, reminding me that the light you and I shine matters so very much.

 

 

Allow this book to touch and change you.
