Enjoy this essay, which will appear later this year in the second edition of Go In Joy! An Alphabetical Adventure.
Do we understand how much our thoughts create our lives?
Do we see that what’s not working is a result of us being who we are?
Can we evolve into thinking of a higher quality?
I’m not sure that I fully understood this amazing concept until a day last summer.
Here’s the view…
Michael and I enjoy a wondrous trip to Germany surrounding my son’s wedding.
We land early in Xanten to adjust to the time change and to honor my birthday, make our way to Greve to join family for the wedding and travel by train down the Rhine. These blue-sky vacation days enable us to savor gelato strolls and breathe beside fountains, treasuring moments.
Months earlier, when we’d purchased tickets, returning to western North Carolina didn’t work out, so we find ourselves landing in Charleston, SC. on a hot, muggy night.
We’re the last ones through customs, apparent owners of a wayward bag that doesn’t arrive.
Hmm…okay.
A short way from the airport, our rental car makes a crazy sound, to which Michael says, “It sounds like this car’s falling apart. We’d better exchange it.”
It’s not fun crossing the hot parking lot this hot night dressed in long pants and long sleeves from flying, but it is what it is; we manage without whining.
We use the restroom, receive a replacement car and head out again.
And…when we locate our Air Bnb, the entry code doesn’t work.
Oh, my.
What is going on? Three things have gone awry tonight.
This feels strange, especially since our trip to Germany overflowed with ease, fun and laughter.
We long to be inside air conditioning, and to sleep.
Thankfully, a few minutes later, we hear from the Air Bnb folks that it didn’t work to set the code they’d given us. “Use this one, instead.”
Hooray!
We enter the cool, lovely home, soon finding our way to sleep after the long flights and trying moments in Charleston.
The next morning as we walk to breakfast, Michael fesses up, “I’m sorry things were wonky last night, Joy. I held energy of not wanting to be home.”
OMG
“NO WONDER we experienced a crazy evening with things going wrong. Michael, you’re a powerful manifester!!!”
Yes.
We create our lives.
We live in ease and flow, or we don’t.
What thoughts are we thinking?
May our thoughts offer goodness to our days.
