When I’ve been dating Michael for a few months, we adventure north for a 10-day road trip. Our first day, he pulls over, parks, and removes kites from his car on a windy day.
How fun!
I am astounded, delighted and overjoyed to fly my butterfly kite that afternoon in Kentucky.
What moments of PURE JOY to lie on the grass, watching a kite float through the sky!
Well, last week before Michael left for dinner at his son’s house, he said, The wind’s up; let’s go to the school with our kites.
Yes, please.
We walk two blocks to an open field, unwrap our kites and let the wind take them heavenward.
Hooray!
Again, what JOY to delight in the feeling of flying a kite. I love it!
I also love hula hooping, blowing bubbles, making chalk pictures and word search puzzles, elements from my childhood that I occasionally, joyously engage with these days.
Dear one, are you an adult who is highly serious? Might you see what you can cool off about, so that you can add a bit of play to your life?
Play isn’t only for children, in my understanding. It’s an aspect of life that anyone can enjoy.
May you live into some play.
