When’s the last time you took a road trip with a friend or loved one?
Are you hunkering in to stay safe? Do you feel like hanging on the couch? Is there too much on your plate?
I understand.
We each experience life as we do, in ways that may be wildly different from one another.
Years ago, I hung out, hiding from life, not having fun, going over things in my mind, feeling low about myself.
These days, I love my Self and each moment to live into with my partner Michael.
This photo represents for me a few things.
It reminds me that we took a trip to Ohio from western North Carolina in August, to visit friends in northeastern Ohio before attending my 46th high school reunion, it reminds me that nature offers unique beauty when we connect and it reminds me that the memory of this park in my heart could be experienced again 50 years later…sweet.
Nearing our hotel for the reunion, I see a sign for Fellows Riverside Gardens, ringing a bell from childhood.
“Michael, let’s stop at the park; we have time.”
“Sure.”
So we do.
On a beautiful afternoon beneath a sweet breeze with sun and clouds, we enter a building where we’re greeted by a blue chandelier which could be a Dale Chihuly…wow! Reading the description, we realize that this is a faux Chihuly made by cutting up water bottles and coloring them with markers to hang a rendition.
Next, we view a room filled with studding nature paintings and use the rest rooms before strolling outside.
There, we enjoy each blossom, plant and moment in this long-green place. We climb rock steps, adore moss-covered stumps, enjoy a long view.
Breathing in.
Grateful.
Happy.
Wandering.
Taking photos.
Like the photo for this post….which I appreciated that day – a plant with pink and fuchsia fuzzy tassels.
Thank you, Fellows Riverside Gardens at Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio.
It was great to see you again.
