How fun!
This photo represents a surprise we happened upon the other night.
To begin, we catch an idea to attend an annual event, buying tickets online to attend with Michael’s mom.
When the chosen day and time are in view, we rally to pick up Nancy for dinner before driving to the North Carolina Arboretum for Winter Lights.
Oops….our favorite Thai place looks dark with a note on the door.
We drive to another place, which has an hour wait, calling a third place to discover they’re only honoring reservations.
Wow.
Okay.
Onward we drive to another place the internet shows open, though it’s closed, as we begin to realize that we heard about water issues in the Asheville area.
Finally, we land at a new-to-us Thai restaurant where we enjoy a delicious and S L O W dinner.
Next, we drive to the North Carolina Arboretum to view the Winter Lights display.
Beautiful!
Glowing, radiant, colorful…strolling on a cold evening, grateful the wind’s not blowing and the temperatures aren’t super low.
What a great night to enjoy this display!
And…we wait in line for the port-o-potty and understand they’re not serving hot chocolate due to water issues.
After passing a wood fire where we pause to warm our fingers, we enter a building where we’re greeted by gorgeous photos of animals…how about this?
Yes, how can we save more species?
How can we honor animals?
How can we preserve places animals graze?
We learn this exhibit displays National Geographic’s Photo Ark created by Joel Sartore who raises awareness for animals whose days may be numbered. How can we save more species, he wonders?
May we awaken to his question and our own as we awaken to caring more deeply for all that lives.
May we attend events, leading to surprises where we wander!
Catch an event this winter.
